Sometimes, it's nice to switch things up from the classic oatmeal or take a little break from our everyday favorite. This millet porridge is simple, nourishing and the ultimate feel-good breakfast!

What You'll Need:

for two bowls

  • 1 1/2 dl millet

  • 3 dl water

  • 1 medjool date or 2 small dates

  • 1 teaspoon butter

  • 1/2 banana (topping)

  • 1 tablespoon almond butter (topping)

  • Pinch of salt

How to:

  1. Rinse the millet.

  2. Add millet and water to a pot, add a pinch of salt and bring it to boil. Lower the heat and let it simmer until the water is absorbed - about 15 minutes.

  3. Add the dates to the pot after about 10 minutes of simmering and stir.

  4. Throw in a about 1 teaspoon of butter and let it melt and blend well.

  5. When it's ready, I like to let it sit for a while (5-10 minutes) and fluff it up with a fork.

  6. The banana can be added by taste - if you like it sweet, you can add it at the same time as the dates. Or just use the banana fresh as a topping - which I usually do.

  7. Last step is to put the icing on the cake - almond butter - so good.

Enjoy it with a bit of milk and sometimes I even sprinkle some cinnamon!
